The person:

* Strong commitment and motivation, with a respect for deadlines, ownership of tasks and working as a team
* Ability to adopt and follow standard processes, as well as challenging ways of working with suggestions for improved efficiency and customer service
* payroll background with knowledge of payroll legislation and ideally studying towards CIPP qualification
* Confident communicator, with the ability to liaise across all levels of the business and contribute to meetings
* Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with flexibility to deal with change and different priorities
* Ability to work with minimum supervision and tight deadlines

Qualifications and experience:

* Payroll knowledge, through previous experience, is required
* Good payroll system skills
* Excel skills to include VLOOKUP function and pivot tables, along with general knowledge of Word and other Microsoft products
* Retail experience preferable

Key responsibilities:

* Ownership of processing payroll for weekly and around monthly staff, accurately and to tight deadlines, including sickness, BACS, run costing and FPS
* Reconciliation of third-party payments and pension
* Understanding of flex and auto enrolment desirable
* As part of the team, managing a shared inbox and instructions for processing
* Dupport defining new processes, maintaining current procedures and process improvements
* Dealing with queries and correspondence from internal and external customers
* Ad-hoc project work
