We're seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join our team and manage their internal team.Responsibilities The role involves supporting the Payroll Manager in delivering efficient payroll and pension services, ensuring compliance with regulations, working alongside a small team of payroll professionals. * Interpret and apply HMRC legislation relating to tax and different classes of National Insurance; checking and applying tax forms received from employees and previous employers, amending tax codes in order to enable accurate payments to HMRC. * Ensure that various forms of payroll data input are completed in an accurate and timely manner, including amendment of pay data and bank details. * Calculate and apply annual salaries, allowances, redundancy payments and payments in lieu of notice, ensuring that such payments are made in accordance with police regulations, police staff conditions of service and employment legislation. * Establish, calculate and explain absence scheme provisions, taking into account all the relevant schemes and legislation. * Quality assure payroll data input of colleagues against source documentation, in order to ensure accuracy on all pay variations actioned by other members of the team. Analyse and investigate variances in pay, liaising with other departments and making corrections where needed. * Provide advice and resolve queries on all aspects of pay, taxation and pensions from employees at all levels, referring more complex queries to the Senior Payroll Officer as appropriate. Respond to correspondence and information requests, supplying information as required to the Child Support Agency and authorised solicitors, in order to ensure the provision of a professional payroll and pensions service. * Support the Force in seeking to recover overpayments by providing accurate calculations and administer repayments in line with force policy. * Provide an administrative support service to the Payroll and Pensions section including distribution of payslips, answering telephone queries and responding appropriately, filing and stationery ordering, in order to enhance internal and external communication and maintain an effective support service. * Assist in the administration of the pension payrolls and undertake any other reasonable duties which may be required for the role in order to provide an effective serviceExperience * 1+ year experience within payroll Desirables * SAP payroll * LGPS INDPAYS46814RC

The role will be to administer end to end payroll and auto enrolment processes whilst maintaining the office administration and company policies and procedures, supporting the business in expanding its client base. You will be diligent, accurate, proactive, and able to work unguided. Responsibilities; Maintain and administer the technical and professional quality of the payroll service delivered to a varied client base; * Set up new PAYE Schemes with HMRC, and setting up of client and employee details in the software. * Process allocated payrolls ready to be approved by the client; meeting 24-hour deadlines. * Calculate holiday pay, sick pay, SMP, SPP, notice pay, redundancy pay, and payrolling benefits etc. * Set up and administer AEOs/DEAs * Creating bank and BACS files. * Administer all pensions, including setting up new schemes and completing declarations of compliance, whilst assisting with contribution uploads. * Send out monthly P30 reminder to clients. * Assist in completing the year end processes - Liaise with HMRC when needed. * Answer high-volumes of email and telephone queries to a high standard. * Ensure all payroll-based compliance activities and clients-based deadlines are achieved on weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles. * Process weekly and monthly CIS.
